Solutions for a Better Monday

Monday, eh? What a great day. You roll out of bed, try and pull your eyelids apart and greet another week of work. Don’t get me wrong. I don’t actually mind Mondays, but that is because I have come up with some solutions to let me enjoy them.

Look up the football results. I haven’t seen my team play in Scotland for some years now but I still follow their results on a weekly basis. To be fair, the results are usually pretty poor but just by reading about their games I find myself transported to a place where I can remember standing there watching the games with my friends and enjoying a stiff Scottish breeze on my face.

A bit of reclining action. I don’t have any leather recliners in my house but if I did you can be sure that my Monday mornings would involve a spell of reclining on here. I have to confess that I don’t recall ever spending time on a leather recliner and this is an extremely sad omission from my life which I intend to put right as soon as possible.

Coffee and fresh air. Of all of the many marvellous gifts which Mother Nature has given us are any better than the humble coffee bean? If coffee were ever to be made illegal or hugely expensive I reckon that I would be  tempted to break the law in order to get my daily fix. Anyway, if you don’t do this in the morning then can I suggest that filling up coffee urns, pouring out steaming hot cups of coffee and  drinking them out in the fresh air makes live seem a far more interesting prospect. Try it one Monday morning and you should find yourself addicted to this new way of greeting the day.

Go back to bed. Hey, one of the great things about working from home is that you lose all sense of shame about staying in bed until midday. If it is a particularly bleak looking Monday morning then I pull up my tropical bedspreads and let my eyes close again (assuming they were open at some point during the previous points).
