Who Said This Was a Good Idea?

I don’t understand why people buy ice cream makers. There, I have gone and said it. Making your own ice cream doesn’t seem like a great idea to me. My mum bought one of these devices lately and told me that it is actually more expensive than buying pre made stuff, and a lot more time consuming as well. Of course, lots of people must get a great deal of enjoyment from their ice cream makers, and this got me wondering what other things I just don’t understand the appeal of.

What’s the deal with those fast growing trees then? Isn’t part of the pleasure of having a garden the slow, building excitement of watching it grow? Maybe I am being too harsh on the rapidly expanding plants but I like to see my vegetation go through a few different stages of growth before it is taller than me. Having said that, I’ll have a couple of them anyway, so that I don’t have to wait years before blocking my neighbour’s view of my bathroom.

I don’t know why I don’t like curtains but I just don’t. Country curtains are far from the worst examples but I just don’t like putting drapes (did I use the right US word there?) on my windows at all. So what do I put on my windows? Well, a mixture of blinds and, err, nothing really. Apart from that neighbour who might be able to see in my bathroom if he buys some binoculars I usually only have cows and the odd donkey for company on my street to be fair.

Actually, since I just explained that I don’t like curtains you may wonder why I have several curtain rods in a box in my home.  In fact, I have wondered it myself from time to time. I bought them when I first built the house (well, asked nicely if someone would build it for me really). We thought that curtains were essential but then we went all hippy (oh, and the money ran out as well) and we went for the bare look.

So what does a Dyson Air Multiplier do then? Ok, so I guess the clue is in the name but what I mean is why  would I want one? Actually, now that I am thinking about it I feel a bit short of breath. Maybe my house lacks air after all.
